Needle felting is a craft in which fluffy wool is poked/stabbed/jabbed repeatedly with special barbed needles to agitate its fibers until they “felt” together. This means that the wool shrinks down and becomes very dense, firm and solid to the touch. This happens because of the way the fibers are tangled and compressed together by the action of the needle/s. During this process, the wool can be sculpted into almost any shape. Alternatively, one can create a flat piece of artwork by attaching colored fibers to a backing, similar to the way in which a painter would apply paint to a canvas.
Felted Sky Studio is a fun little family-owned shop that sells needle felting kits and supplies. We love wool, we love helping people, we love to inspire. For these reasons, our online video tutorials are available to anyone who wants to learn needle felting, whether they buy anything from us or not. We’re here to spread the love of this little-known but very satisfying and beautiful art form.
A message from the owner:
This business is the happy result of many years of my seemingly unrelated endeavors and big dreams. I have always been an artistic, crafty person. In recent years that has translated into a love of fiber arts (knitting, crocheting, dyeing, spinning). I stumbled onto needle felting at my daughter’s Waldorf school and tried it on a whim. Soon I was making cute seasonal decorations and toys to sell at the school and also on Etsy. The child of an entrepreneur, I have always wanted to own my own business. Felted Sky Studio allows me to do that while being a mom to two wonderful daughters and an energetic German Shepherd.
I want you to know that by supporting Felted Sky Studio, you are helping my family to reach our goals. Why might that be a good thing? Well, we believe in making the world a better place by the choices we make. We love locally owned shops, locally grown chemical-free food, handmade goods, creating healthy thriving relationships, being conscious naturally-minded parents and taking steps to have a more positive environmental footprint. We live outside the box in all kinds of ways and hope that by “going for it” in our own lives, we encourage other people to do the same.
Thank you for your interest in Felted Sky Studio!
