This is something new that we're calling a "foundation" for felted artwork.
This foundation is essentially the same as a wool mat but you create your project on it and it becomes part of the finished piece of art. This one is approximately 7 x 7 x 1 in.
We have been using our wool micro mats in this way for some of our mini kits. This foundation can be a base that lays flat and you can attach sculptural elements to it, or it can become the foundation for 2D flat pictures that stand vertically. The example shown is our May subscription project that incorporates a flat picture and 3D mushrooms. This wool foundation holds the sculpted mushrooms very well and very easily.
The artistic uses and possibilities for these foundations are endless! We will be adding other sizes so please check back for those in the coming weeks and months.
