Felter's Foundation

This is something new that we're calling a "foundation" for felted artwork.

This foundation is essentially the same as a wool mat but you create your project on it and it becomes part of the finished piece of art. We now have five sizes available: 7 in. square, 7 in. circle, 5 in. circle, 4 in. circle, and our Wool Micro Mat (3.25 in. x 4 in.) All are approximately 1 in. thick.

We have already been using our Wool Micro Mats in this way for some of our mini kits. This foundation can be a base that lays flat and you can attach sculptural elements to it, or it can become the foundation for 2D flat pictures that stand vertically. The examples shown are our May, July and October subscription projects. These wool foundations hold the sculpted elements very well and very easily.

The artistic uses and possibilities for these foundations are endless! We will be adding other sizes so please check back for those in the coming months.

As a handmade item, the dimensions can vary up to 1/2 in. in any direction.
